MEET OUR PARTNER WHO MEDICALLY ASSISTS

Meet: Michele Struss

Michele has partnered for seven years with Calcutta Mercy’s medical projects for the poor. She was born a Little Person and lives in a body that has required a lot of medical intervention over the years. Grateful for the access she has to care, she advocates for the less fortunate so they too can live outside the boundaries of their physical limitations.

Michele frequently gives of her time and resources to fund free treatment for ill and deformed children in Calcutta. Most recently, she planned and hosted a fundraiser at a country club in Monroe, NY where Calcutta Mercy’s founder, Huldah Buntain, presided as the guest speaker. It was a beautiful event where attendees enjoyed a dinner and silent auction in a room papered with photos of children from India. The evening raised over $17,500 for the treatment of illnesses and deformities in the lives of many special children.

“It is not the size of our wallet that determines how much we can give, but the size of our heart,” Michele learned through this event. “Through Calcutta Mercy’s free medical care projects, we have the opportunity to give hope, life and a new beginning to those who cannot provide it for themselves. What a gift to them! What a gift to us!”

Why we work with partners

Working with partners ensures each of our projects is implemented and managed in the best possible way. While Calcutta Mercy raises awareness and funds, our partners prepare foods for our feeding lines, establish clinics in rural villages, educate the world’s next leaders through our network of schools, and so much more.

We value our local partners for their knowledge of the field and for making the best use of time and resources while delivering quality final products. We value our international partners for their eagerness to lend their expertise and resources to grow our projects.

We take pride in the close relationships we have with our partners, as we share in one vision and mission for the poor of Calcutta.
